St. Albert, AB - The Alberta Triathlon Association would like to congratulate our Junior Elites for their major accomplishment in becoming Provincial Champions. There was some competitive times and the athletes above put in a phenomenal performance. The girls race was lead out by Evangeline Fletcher who put in the best swim and bike times of the day and held onto during the run to take the win for the girls. Lexi Streu and Alesha Miller both put in exceptional races as well finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively with Alesha have the best run split of the day.
The boys race was another classic to be held on the day. Alberta prospect Eric Danielson out of Lethbridge put on a clinic in being able to pace out the race perfectly and be the only finisher to complete the race in under an hour. After being out of the water first, Eric never looked back as he put in top 2 splits in the other two disciplines. To round off the top 3 was John Pexman and Kameron King who both came in 2nd and 3rd respectively. John had an awesome bike being the only athlete to go sub 30 minutes on the course.
The ATA would also like to congratulate and thank the St. Albert race director Wietske Eikelenboom and all her volunteers for a superb event which has been perfect over the years but a dedicated community of triathletes and above.
All 6 of our winners will be going on to represent Alberta in Kelowna, BC this summer at the Apple Triathlon on August 21, 2010. We anticipated a strong contingent on Albertans this summer and hope to see you out there!
